Wish list for the Farm
This discussion will list the unmet needs for the farm. There is also a wish list for the market that's a discussion in the market group. There is also a combined list of unmet needs that is in the funding group. We appreciate any offers or suggested additions to be added to this list.
Farm Related Unmet Needs
• Visquine* is needed immediately to restore makeshift greenhouse (*heavy plastic to cover a green house that is approximately 40x60' and 12' tall in size). Two or three real greenhouses will be needed down the road, yet we absolutely need to fix the current makeshift greenhouse immediately as the rainy season will begin soon, and this is the area where we can process produce and organize for the market.
• Organic pesticide spray
• 3 onion hoe's (hoe's with a long blade on the end of the handle)
• Cylinder pickup truck for Farm
• Farm tools which include:
o Seeder to plant certain types of seeds
o Garden hoes needed (10)
o Multi-purpose Toolbox (w/ tape measure, wrenches, screwdrivers, utility knives)
o Rain gear for farmers
• Tractor/plow/tiller budget to get other 17 acres prepped for 2009.
• Untreated/organic seeds budget of $2200-$2600 for next planting in preparation for 2009 when the other 17 acres should be utilized.
• Petty cash budget to obtain such items as plastic bags for market, labels, marketing materials (i.e. suggested cooking methods flyers for produce we're selling to educate the consumer who normally does not buy organic or this particular kind of produce).
