Alternatives to Chemical Spraying...
As the farm seeks to become 100% Organic, I have researched some natural pest control methods utilizing all natural plant based ingredients. This will allow the farm to maintain being a CLEAN and GREEN farm. Please see below for a few of my findings, your questions and/or comments are an important part of the farm's explansion development
Pesticide Free Spraying using plant based plant control:
Lemongrass Extract- 50 g of ground lemongrass &2 liters of water; then Soak the ground lemongrass into water for few hours &Strain. Spray directly onto produce. Rids crops of aphids, snails,
Neem Plant Extract- 1-2 kg of neem leaves,Mortar and pestle, Used cotton cloth, Pot, Soap (green), Strainer, String (10-12 kg of neem leaves are needed for 0.4 ha); Pound neem leaves gently. Place in a pot. Add 2-4 liters of water. Cover the mouth of the pot securely with the cloth and leave it as such for 3 days. Strain to get clear extract; Dilute 1 liter of neem leaf extract with 9 liters of water. Add 100 ml of soap. Stir well. Spray on the infested plants. Rids crops of. Aphids, beetles, grasshoppers, locusts, snails, weevils, scales, thrips and whiteflies
Mint Extract- 250 grams of leaves, 2 liters of water, Grinder, Strainer, Pail; Grind the leaves to make into a paste, Add water, Stir well and ready for use or strain it to have a clear extract; Spray on infected plants thoroughly using water can or sprinkler
