Grand Opening of the Clean Greens Market

The Grand Opening of the Clean Greens Market was a great success. The weather was just perfect and everyone had fun. We want to thank everyone that participated in this event to make it what it was. For a while now I have wanted to become more involved with providing access to affordable produce and urban agricultural education to communities. My first step to achieve my goal was joining the SAGE (Sustainable Agriculture Education) program at Seattle Central— I start in the fall. Next step is actual getting hands on experience.

Where/how do I start? I have no land and not much money, but I'm a teacher with plenty of engaged interest and purpose around this (started the first organic garden at a school for homeless kids I used to teach at, for example). And of course, this summer I have time ...

I'd like to know if you have any thing going on in Dallas, TX? A place badly (BADLY) in need of this kind of intervention (esp. my old neighborhood, which is suffering from urban blight, total disconnect from nature, a lack of knowledge of holistic and sustainable living, AND diabetes from--unfortunately, necessarily--cheap, processed foods (read: McDonald's syndrome) diets. I am from Dallas, but live in Seattle: are there any members in the Columbia City/CD, Rainier Valley area? D
