One of the most asked questions about this project is, why are we attempting to do so many things at the same time? For example, we are planting and growing vegetables, while managing our own inner-city farmers market. This is being done in addition to publishing the only African American Business Directory in the state, and continuing to promote a community based endowment fund committed to preserving small inner-city businesses.
These are all daunting project, and each one of them alone would be extremely challenging. However, such is the state of the community urgency that we find ourselves in today. We can no longer believe that a government that is presently entangled by Corporate, and Wall Street interest will soon come to the rescue of poor communities now being ravaged by bad food, financial exclusion, and little or no opportunities for small community based business development.
What we are simply seeking to do is to identify the elements necessary for authentic community sustainability which is innate to out survival. These elements are the things that connect us, the things that assure our equitable existence on this planet.
True success as it relates to these things is measured only by our continuous consistency.
Yours, in the struggle
